Hello everyone. I recently learned to make chocolate and wanted to take it to the next level and try some silicone molds (prior to the molds I was making free form candy clusters on wax paper). Perhaps many of you are finding that after reading the reviews for various mold brands, you are still not sure which one(s) to go with. That is how I felt a couple weeks ago, so I decided to see for myself and bought 3 different brand molds. The following is what I purchased: Silikomart Silicone Easy Chocolate Mold (assorted Dinosaurs - 15 piece per mold), Fat Daddio's Interlocking Square Silicone Chocolate Mold (15 piece per mold), and Freshware 30 Cavity Silicone Chocolate Jelly and Candy Mold. Along with the molds, I also purchased the Wilton Easy Pour Funnel. In case it matters, I prepare my chocolate using cacoa butter, cacao paste, sea salt, honey and ground vanilla. All ingredients are warmed in my dehydrator at a temperature of 105 until melted (the honey is already melted of course, but I put in in there anyway so it is warm). Here is what I discovered when I made my chocolates yesterday. All three molds released the chocolates easily, all three molds had about the same size candies (can be eaten in one or two bites - I think this is just the right size) and all three produced beautiful shiny pieces of chocolate (they all had the same amount of shine). Clean-up is a cinch on all three of them; however, it is easier to clean the brown chocolate off the red 30 cavity Freshware mold. Several reviews have noted that the forms are so flexible you have to transfer them to the refrigerator on a hard surface or all your chocolate will run out. This is true; however, I do not feel this is a reason for the products to lose a star because this flexibility is also the exact reason your beautiful little candy creations will pop right out. I made sure to transfer my filled molds to the refrigerator on something stiff and it was no big deal at all. As far as I can tell, unless you are looking for a particular shape, of the three I purchased, I would recommend the Freshware one because of the following: it has 30 cavities in the mold (as opposed to 15 in each of the others),it gives you a variety of shapes (6 different shapes in the 30 cavities as opposed to only one shape in the 15 cavity molds), it is the easiest to clean up because it is red and per cavity is the least expensive option. Now, about the funnel. For $5.46, this little candy making tool was a real gem. It is super simple to use and clean. Several reviews mentioned that it did not come with a stand; however, this is no big deal. I used a narrow mouthed canning jar and it worked perfect. The wide mouth jar bumps the little handle trigger and lets the chocolate out, so I do not recommend a jar or glass with a wide top. Fortunately, I realized the wide mouth would open the funnel bottom before I actually put chocolate in it. Other reviews mentioned that the funnel drips. My experience was the following: When only the chocolate was in the funnel, I had the occasional drip (maybe 6 drips), but not at all enough to take a star away for it. Part way through my project, I added shredded coconut to the chocolate in the Vitamix and blended it in on a low speed (didn't breakdown the coconut...merely mixed it in). I found I did get more drips once the coconut was in the funnel; however, this was my own fault because the little pieces of coconut were preventing a seal at the bottom of the funnel. Even with the coconut, I did not think the drips I got were bothersome. I will add the coconut the same way next time and enjoy gobbling up the drippings when I am cleaning up. I hope the info above was helpful. Happy candy making!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2018I had to write a review after using this to mold my Christmas chocolates, because it's a great product and there have been negative reviews on it. I found it easy to use and it did exactly what it was supposed to do. You put the pin in the hole to stop the melted chocolate from flowing and raise the pin when you want it to flow. What could be easier? Granted, there is a learning curve to become familiar with the device releasing the most chocolate when you push it back into the hole to stop it, but after a few molds are filled you get how it works. And even though you aren't going to be able to fill all of some of your molds' intricate spaces, you can always come back with a spatula to spread the chocolate, as it takes a while for it to set up. This is a great product and I wouldn't want to try to mold chocolate without it. I'm ordering another one, so I can melt peanut butter and caremel chips to add to the molds, in addition to the chocolate, without having to wash the one. I especially like that you can push the pin in the hole and set the funnel down in a tall glass, so you can distribute the chocolate you've already poured, if you need to, and the ingredients won't leak out. Please don't hesitate to buy this for your candy making!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2009My chocolate making activities have been in high gear since early Fall and I needed a better way to pour the chocolate into the small molds. This funnel works pretty well - I have two as I usually work with two different chocolates at the same time. It is easy to fill and easy to operate. The finger trigger spout is not the most accurate/well made -- but this is a nice inexpensive solution when you want to fill several molds quickly. The mess is kept at a minimum.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2017I bought this last year because I thought it looked like a practical little candy making tool. When it arrived I was surprised at how flimsy it looked. It is made of two plastic pieces that fall apart if you don't carefully handle them. Last week I made mini cupcakes that had a thin batter (they were butter mochi cakes). I knew I was going to make a mess trying to get the batter into the mini baking cups then remembered this funnel which was buried in the back of the cupboard. OMG it worked great! I was able to dispense the perfect amount of batter without spilling a drop. I kept looking at the funnel as I filled it. Seriously, I couldn't believe how well it worked. It was easy to wash too. I haven't used it with melted chocolate yet but I am going to give it a try next time I make turtles.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2013In my opinion, this device is a waste of money - thank God it didn't cost much. I bought the easy pour funnel because when I make Mini cupcakes, pouring cake batter into each slot is very messy. The funnel seemed like a great solution to my problem. It wasn't though.
1) Putting the batter into it can be just as messy as putting cake mix into cupcake slots.
2) I only works well if your batter is very thin. If you are using thick batter, it takes FOREVER for it to come out of that little hole at
the bottom.
3) The process takes waaaaayyyyy too long!!!! Putting in the batter, refilling it, despensing it from the bottom, refilling it, etc....
Not a great time saving device.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2023I used this to pour caramel into silicone molds accurately and safely. It's a simple, easy to clean/use, invaluable tool in the kitchen- gauging the stopper/pull mechanism takes a little practice but can be picked up quickly.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2025I'm not a fan of this candy mold filler. There is no spring to hold the insert up or down, it just flops around. I suspected it wasn't going to work but thought I'd give it a try anyway. However, using a spoon to fill my chocolate molds worked way better than this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Klein aber klappt prima
Bin zufrieden!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great - for the right job
Absolutely fantastic. It is plastic so keeps chocolate tempered for ages and you can microwave it. If you dilly-dally for too long chocolate will go hard in it. It stays liquid long enough for us to "cap" over 200+ chocolate truffle spheres by dispensing a tiny blob of chocolate on the small opening of each sphere. It does that great. Much easier to control and faster than a paper cornet. Terrible for piping chocolate writing, great for blobing and pouring. We normally run out of chocolate before it goes hard. Wish it was a little bit bigger.

5.0 out of 5 stars molto utile
