I searched for years for a chocolate fudge that was "just like my Mom used to make" in her kitchen on the farm. Without luck. But today, on my eighty-eighth birthday, I found Hall's Chocolate Fudge. Eureka!
It has the same texture and flavor of that wonderful old fudge I enjoyed as a kid. Thank you, Hall's for making my birthday terrific!

When I was growing up, Dad would occasionally make Fudge. Sometimes plain, sometimes Rocky Road. And all 4 of us had to take a turn at stirring it until he decided that it was done. Many years later, I discovered Microwave Fudge. Soft & melt in your Mouth. I loved it. But now, many many years later, I've been craving Dad's Fudge. But every one I've tried is soft. It's not that Dad's was hard. But it's wasn't melt in your Mouth soft.

(At least this Batch of) Hall's Rocky Road is almost as good as Dad's. It's good enough to satisfy my craving. Best of all, it's made with Pecans, not Almonds. If I had any complaints, it would be that some of the slices weren't done well enough to separate the Pieces. There have been 2 times in the first half) where I couldn't separate them. Instead of being a Good Girl and getting a Knife to finish the job, I just ate 1 double size piece. Not good for the Diet, but tasted good longer. It would be very easy to eat all of it at one sitting!!!

Listen people, and listen well. If you are willing to spend this kind of money on fudge, you need to get something that is out of this world and this Hall's brand is NOT it. I am a self-proclaimed fudge expert, meaning I eat fudge whenever the opportunity arises, and believe me, I go out of my way to make that happen. This stuff has a chemical aftertaste, a grainy, crumbly consistency, a cloudy color ....... with all these "c" scales I am rating this with you would think I am a diamond dealer looking at the 4 c's (color, cut, clarity & carat!)..... well heck, let's finish this - the carat, meaning weight of the actual fudge seems to be lacking and I think it is due to the crumbly texture and small holes that are visible. I am not satisfied at ALL with the overall product. Granted, I am still willing to eat this - preferably by myself with no other family members around so I don't have to share - but you know those fudge shops you see when you go on vacation in a tourist town? Those are better. Fudge shops inside those large franchise sporting shops are better. Vermont Country Store and Amish shops have better fudge. So, search around. You want really creamy consistency, rich, full flavor that melts in your mouth, and stuff that is so good you get nearly sick because you just can't stop eating it. That's my opinion and I am sticking with it.
