- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2015Okay, I was originally SO UPSET when I got this chocolate bar, because I ordered it in July and I live in Texas, and it doesn't ship with an ice pack. Thermodynamics happened.
NOTE: DOES NOT SHIP WITH AN ICE PACK <-- caps in case you missed it
I chilled the completely liquefied bar in the fridge for a couple of days, and then began eating it the following week. Like you might expect of previously melted chocolate, the texture was a little off.
BUT IT TASTES SO FREAKING GOOD I DON'T CARE
I'm probably going to order a whole tub in August
a box of melted chocolate
smoldering on the stoop
I could pop bars in the fridge
or just make cacao soup
the chocolate is much better than my poetry
- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2016Healthy and yummy; more antioxidants with the higher percentage of cacao. But it tastes more bitter the higher you go, because there is less sugar, and therefore the positive health issue.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2016This is the best chocolate I've ever gotten. Only if you sit down and savor the darkness in your mouth with peace you can tell how amazing the creamy and bitterness are, but if you choose to bite it or consume 1 piece in several seconds you are not gonna get the taste and essence of the chocolate. I have tried so many other brand's 85 chocolate, which are all organic, premium grade, I guess, this one is the best. I have a really sweet-sensitive tooth so I'd say that this product not is that sweet and watery, compared to some other 85 chocolate, but is creamy and has just the right degree of bitterness, to me.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2017Try the "endangered species" brand chocolate with the same percent of cocoa. It is so much better than green and blacks. I like very dark chocolate and found this chocolate to be far too bitter and not creamy at all. Oddly enough, endangered species chocolate uses the same amount of sugar.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2015Would be 5 stars, but I'm giving it 2 stars because: For the life of me I can't figure out why the majority of chocolate manufacturers wrap their beautiful, healthy, fair trade, organic, delicious, expensive products in toxic metal foil. This is one of them. I just don't understand. Wrapping the bar in metal foil is like having a beautiful garden and then planting poison ivy all around it. Or serving delicious organic tamales, wrapped in shells made from asbestos. After only one small piece, my entire mouth is burning. I'm obviously highly sensitive to metals, but it proves that even if you don't get a reaction, you now know that the metal gets on the chocolate and you are then ingesting it. Your choice.
1) How can aluminum foil be "fair trade" or similar? Are natives somewhere smelting aluminum ore? I doubt it. It's probably from Alcoa or some other giant company destroying the planet with massive mining operations.
2) Aluminum foil is certainly not organic, or even natural.
3) Aluminum foil is not neutral as far a health benefits go… it's actually harmful! We know aluminum is one of the most destructive substances to the human Central Nervous System and contributes to ADHD and Alzheimer's and similar terrible long-term afflictions.
4) And in people who are highly sensitive to metals (like me), it causes canker sores in the short-term. Even though I can physically wipe the bar down, and have even washed bars in running filtered water before eating them, I still get mouth sores from those wrapped in metal foils (no reaction in non-foil-wrapped bars). Really. It absolutely positively contaminates the product.
I will probably continue to stick to Theo brand exclusively. Organic. No soy. No dairy (most of them anyway). Free trade. No metal. Delicious flavors. Extremely reasonably priced. The best available at this point for me. I just wish ALL the companies would stop using sugar completely and switch to stevia or similar. (I think I need to start my own chocolate company... I'd certainly enjoy sampling my product!)
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2012The Title says box as well as the description of this product was "Black 10X 3.5 Oz Organic Dark Chocolate 85%" 10x 3.5 oz clearly means 10 bars of 3.5 not just one. I can get one bar for cheaper by just going to my local food market. Plus they charged me almost $6 for shipping. The Distributer did write back fast, offer a full refund including shipping therefore I am going it three stars until the product description is changed
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2018A fine bar for seasoned chocolate lovers who appreciate rich cacao flavor. A good chocolate option for a plant-based soy free eater like myself. Firm but creamy textured cacao bar, simple ingredients. Not much more to say other than less is more.

excellent product, but one of the bars arrived with damaged wrapping. The chocolate itself is also damaged.
