Great Chocolate, this book, not so much!

Great Chocolate, this book, not so much!
I was so excited there was even a Guittard Chocolate Cookbook, as it is my go-to chocolate for many recipes I make that call for Chocolate in any form. It is a truly great chocolate. This book, however, was such a disappointment. First I paid for one-day shipping so I could get it quickly. It arrived on time, but as I opened the book and looked at recipes there was again that distinct odor of a book made in China. A chemical smell that really changes your mind quickly about making Chocolate Bread Pudding or any of the other recipes. The photographs that accompany some of the recipes are not very clear or appetizing. This book will be returned.

I love guittard chocolate. I think it's far better than ghirardelli. This book was written by a daughter of the guittard family.
She intersperses family stories with recipes.

Unlike many modern cookbooks, this book contains old and new recipes. Not faddish ones, but family recipes that you probably have the ingredients for in your cupboard. I've used several recipes and although i'm an experienced cook, i think that even beginners can easily make successful desserts.

As an experienced cook, i was also happy to learn about chocolate from an expert. I think that this book is more than recipes, it's a short course in chocolate theory.

I have many cookbooks, this one is exceptional bc it's useful and practical. i keep it in my kitchen cookbook cupboard bc i use it often.

This was a gift for my granddaughter who lives in Japan, and who is interested in learning how to create chocolate goodies! I think she will love the book, though her Dad will probably have to translate the English into Japanese!

I leafed through this book before sending it off, , and I can say: the pix of chocolate candies and desserts are enough to make any chocolate-lover drool! :]

Saw this book on the Guittard website and borrowed the e-book from our local library. When I found myself taking screen shots of almost every recipe in the first few pages, I knew I had to purchase this book. Since our purchase, we have made 3 recipes from it. My favorite recipe is the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie and look forward to trying the Chocolate Coconut Bread, Chocolate Berry Tart, Chocolate Banana Blondies and Hot Cocoa Madeleines soon.

This lovely book features the stories (charmingly told) behind the well-loved recipes from this venerable family-owned American chocolate maker. Loads of easy-to-follow recipes that yield delectable results. The recipes for Decadent Brownies and Grandma's Chocolate Cake are winners and more than worth the price of this book!
