I'm really not a morning person, so I've always liked the idea of an energy bar that I could grab for breakfast, saving the time and effort of having to actually make food. The problem is that most of the bars I've tried are absolutely disgusting. As a chocolate fan, I've sampled the supposed "chocolate" flavors of several brands, only to discover that no actual chocolate was involved in making the bar.

But Odwalla's Chocolate Chip Peanut bars have come to save the day. They have a nice soft texture, with a bit of crunch from the peanuts, and actual, honest-to-goodness chocolate chips. On top of all that, they don't have any weird vitaminy flavor or funny aftertaste like so many other bars have. Now, like any energy bar, they're not as good for you as "real food," but I find they make a good meal replacement when there's no time for anything else and they have enough protein that I feel full for a long time after eating one. Plus, if you take advantage of the subscription price, you can get them here cheaper than you can ever find at the supermarket.

In general I am a fan of Odwalla protein bars (the banana nut bars are extremely good) but must admit that I am underwhelmed by the chocolate chip peanut bars. They aren't terrible, they are just bland, with a vaguely doughy flavor with hints of peanut and chocolate. For your 230 calories (more than most of their bars) you get 8 grams of fat and 7 grams of protein, which makes this a marginal nutritional investment given the tastier alternatives available from Odwalla and elsewhere.

Certainly taste is a very personal thing, and if you like the taste of the chocolate chip peanut variety, by all means have at it. I ate all 15 bars in the package, so they obviously weren't dreadful, but I wish I had liked them as much as I like the bulk of the Odwalla line. Nevertheless, these do make a modestly filling breakfast or snack, and are certainly better for you than the majority of processed snack foods available.

i buy these locally so i know what they are supposed to taste like and the texture of them. These were hard and weird tasting. Could have been something went wrong in shipping but they were awful.

I tried Odwalla bars from Ralph's, liked them, and decided to purchase in bulk. What a mistake. These tasted old and stale. You know that smell when peanuts have been sitting around for a really long time? Smells like peanut oil? It tasted old, too. Barely ate any before I just tossed the entire box away.

Quite tasty with all organic ingredients; you could find worse but would have a hard time finding much better. A good snack to keep in the purse, backpack or desk.

I have given up all grains and sugars, and these bars are my only "vice". I have one a day with my breakfast coffee. They are not too sweet, have a good texture and protein. I really like them and have ordered them on Amazon for some time now. However, the recent price hike means I will be now buying them locally where they are $1.00 a bar.

I usually can't eat protein bars, and I can eat these, but... not that yummy. Not a favor of the flavor or texture. I won't purchase again.

Terrible taste and texture. Lots of calories without the reward of good flavor and texture. Super dry.
