Customers find the mold works perfectly and is easy to clean. However, opinions about ease of use are mixed, with some finding it easy to use while others disagree.
I was searching for a cute mold to make chocolates with, as part of a package for my homemade sugar-free hot chocolate mix. These cute spoon moulds are so perfect for the occasion! I am a Prime Member, so the moulds came within 2 days of my order as part of the free 2-day shipping. The packaging was minimal, which I prefer for environmental reasons. The 2 moulds were nestled inside of each other (yay for space saving!) and came as pictured! I quickly mixed up some chocolate to try them out. Silicone moulds in general are very easy to work with. You don't have to spray them with oil, but I sprayed some coconut oil in the moulds before filling with chocolate anyway. They were very easy to fill- if you pour liquid in on one end, the smooth surface allows it to travel to the other end of the spoon shape and fill very evenly. These moulds can withstand very high and very low temperatures, making it very versatile. I chose to make chocolate and allow them to harden in the freezer, but you could place them in the oven (melting crushed mint candies) just as easily. They are flexible, which is great for being able to shapes out of the mould with ease and without breaking the final product. Because of this fact, I recommend placing them in a pan or on a hard surface so that the spoons are formed evenly. Mine came out great! I was thinking of trying something similar to add on top of Chai Tea cupcakes or as a sweet treat with fruit salad cups. If you want a quick recipe that work perfectly with these spoon-shaped silicone moulds, try the following. Whisk together 3/4 cup melted coconut oil, 3/4 cup cocoa powder, 2 tsp of vanilla, a pinch of instant coffee and 30 drops liquid stevia (or to taste). Pour into moulds and let cool in freezer or fridge until hardened (at least 4 hours). I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
It’s so much fun to make chocolate spoons. My parents gave this to me as a gift. I bake all the time, so whenever I have leftover melted chocolate or some chocolate chips leftover in a bag, I make chocolate spoons! :)
For best results, fill them almost to or near the top, and carefully remove with your finger pressed against the narrowest part of the spoon, near the spoon part. This is the best way to make sure they don’t break in half.
The only thing about them it the fact that if you fill them to the top, they are kind of tall. If you don’t fill them to the top to avoid this, they aren’t perfectly smooth on the underside of the spoon because of the chocolate on the sides of the mold
Overall, I am very happy with this product. I have used it many times over the past four years of having it.
My kids were so excited when they saw this package in the mail. We have been wanting to make some chocolate spoons for a while to give as gifts with some hot cocoa mix. We immediately opened the package and were disappointed with the size of the spoons. They are not regular size, they are small, like half the size of normal. So we could not use them as a stirring spoon for cocoa. We still wanted to play with it though. We could just give them as a sweet treat. We melted the chocolate to temper and used a ziplock bag to pipe into the mold. We let it come to room temp and then put in the fridge for an hour. They came out of the mold pretty easy. Only one broke. Other than being smaller than we had hoped, we loved the molds.
I received this product at a discounted price for an honest review.
Used these to make peppermint spoons and they worked like a charm! No problem with the spoons breaking as I took them out because the rubber is so flexible it just peeled away. Didn't stick to anything and cleaned super easy as well
