    Some reviewers complained the candies were stale or old; mine seemed fresh, considering I bought them a month or more after Valentine's Day. . They were a birthday present to myself, or this review would be only 2 stars because the box fell apart almost immediately! Not good if you are sending this to impress your sweetheart!! Maybe the chocolates really were old, or the box itself was? When I took off the lid the first time, the vertical strip that holds the box together started to peel away. It completely fell off after 2-3 more times opening the heart. So the box we useless. When my mom used to get them from my dad, she saved them for decades and used them as storage. Sigh. I bought these partly to keep the box At least the actual Russell Stover chocolates were as good as usual!
