- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2009As an author Transcendental sex: A meditative approach to increasing sensual pleasure, Moneylove: How to Get the Money You Deserve for Whatever You Want, Psychological immortality: Using your mind to extend your life in the areas of sensuality, prosperity, and life extension, I was destined to find a kindred spirit in David Wolfe and his NAKED CHOCOLATE. I first discovered David as I was researching my own upcoming book on the amazing health benefits of pure dark chocolate. He not only calls it "the world's greatest food" but backs it up with colorful history, incisive reports on the scientific evidence uncovered in recent years, and gorgeous photographs to
illustrate some delicious chocolate recipes. He even includes poetry, and his own ode to the wonders of chocolate.
I love his opening line and agree with it wholeheartedly:
"There is nothing in the world like chocolate. It is luxurious,
sensuous, delightful, passionate, inspirational, sexual and exciting to
all senses."
This book is fun, but also profoundly important. As more and more people are discovering the life-extending, health enhancing benefits of the
powerful antioxidant content of healthy dark chocolate, millions may
be positively affected and Naked Chocolate laid the foundation for a
lot of this awareness. I only hope my own dark chocolate book can continue the momentum in the same charismatic, easy-to-read, educational/inspirational way.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2013My first exposure to David Wolfe was SuperFoods, where I gained a significant amount of knowledge pertaining to health and eating correctly to control dis-ease. This should be required reading - EVERYONE has something to gain by reading one of David’s Books, the body wants to heal itself. It does not WANT a mask of pharmaceuticals prescribed then ingested by so many of us, myself included, until I familiarized myself with how to use SuperFoods as a CURE! Naked Chocolate, is just a much more fun & Yummy way to do so; BY EATING CHOCOLATE! You will be surprised at how many ways the Cacao Bean can help you. Any of David Wolfe’s books will inspire you to become a healthier YOU and also ask the question “WHY”; why do we listen to anyone with an MD behind their name & assume that they have all the answers - INSTEAD ASSUME the medicinal powers of the wonderful foods that God put on this Earth!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2008My brother-in-law recommended this book to me. He is interested in lots of alternative diet and health stuff. He was right on with this book. I loved it. I could not put it down and have gone out and purchased raw, organic chocolate and made about 6 of the recipes. Yummy and good for me and my family! Every American who is magnesium deficient (about 90% of us)needs to read this book. You can become a gourmet dessert chef and get healthy at the same time! It is also a great history on the plant itself. Oh, and it is sexy too. ;-)
- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2012Very thorough, written with sincere and catching enthusiasm for the world's most exciting food. Covers an interesting span of aspects--from historical uses, to personal anecdotes, to specific compounds and they way they interact in the body. Includes some exciting recipes also. I enjoyed reading about the mystical uses with the ancient Mayans and the section on "chocolate alchemy" which is just fun to say. Sometimes the "scientific" heavy parts were a little tedious to read, but overall flowed nicely and very interesting. I was enthralled by the compelling case they made that ethically farmed cacao can literally save the rainforests, even the world. There is a cause I can raise my chocolate too! That info has literally changed my actions, and that by my definition, makes a good book!
I find myself quoting little known facts about cacao to my chocoholic friends and am now officially a chocolate nerd.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2014When you reach a point in life where you really start thinking about your health, stress and longevity potential one needs to consider a personal health revolution. I had known for years about David Wolfe and his contribution to the subject of raw foods and started with his books. He presents a thorough history of Cocoa and fun side lines that encourage you to get up and get going incorporating Raw Cocoa into you diet today! Start with the Raspberry Berret's! You won't regret it! Namaste!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2014What you don't know about chocolate may surprise you and what this book can do to clear up any misconceptions is no surprise. Everyone should be ingesting chocolate and you need to read the book to find out why! Well worth it, especially if it stops you from eating what you "think" to be chocolate and turns you onto one of truly one of the world's greatest foods!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2024Not an accurate description.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2008It wasn't my intention to leap into raw foods, but this book was a wonderful way to do that. It expanded my cuisine knowledge into guilt-free ways to chocolate daily, along with other superfoods my teenagers are now passing around to friends. Great fun, especially with little ones who can "cook" without the stove...and the food is portable, which has really simplified my daily momentum. I'm still looking for Durian...sounds fabulous...Thanks, David!

5.0 out of 5 stars Naked Chocolate, nichts sexuelles

I hesitated buying this book because of the perceived high price, but I wish I'd bought it years ago. It's a beautiful book on high quality glossy paper and makes a wonderful read.
