The Lindt Difference

Creating fine chocolate is an art that requires great skill, dedication and passion. The Master Chocolatiers of Lindt are experts of this craft. For more than 165 years, Lindt has been developing innovative chocolate recipes with meticulous craftsmanship, resulting in superior tasting, high quality premium chocolate.

Lindt Chocolate uses only the finest ingredients, and is one of the few chocolate manufacturers that control the entire production process – from roasting the cacao beans to producing the chocolate.


The Lindt Story

In 1845, confectioner David Sprüngli-Schwarz and his inventive son, Rudolf Sprungli-Ammann, owned a small confectionary shop in the Marktgasse of Zurich’s Old Town. They dared to try something new- a fashionable new recipe from Italy for manufacturing chocolate in solid form.

In 1879, Rodolphe Lindt, one of the most famous chocolate-makers of his day, developed a technique by which he could manufacture chocolate unique to others in aroma and melting characteristics. Lindt used the “conche” he had invented to produce chocolate with delicate flavor. His “melting chocolate” soon achieved fame, and contributed significantly to the worldwide reputation of Swiss chocolate.

It was in 1899 that Sprüngli’s private company “Chocolat Sprüngli” acquired the small but famous chocolate factory of Rodolphe Lindt in Berne. This brave step transferred not only the factory but also the manufacturing secrets and the Rodolphe Lindt brand name to the young Sprüngli company which now changed its name to “Lindt & Sprüngli.”

In 1986, Lindt & Sprüngli (USA) Inc., was activated and a manufacturing site and administration building were commissioned in Stratham, New Hampshire where it has expanded and successfully operates today.

First of all, my big issue was with Amazon who fulfilled the item. And, Amazon took immediate responsibility for it. So, that’s why I’m being generous with the ratings. The issue was more with the delivery and handling, rather than the product itself. I won’t fault the product for the mishandling of others. Lindt Lindor truffles are terrific. The taste cannot be beat, and for this time of year, they’re perfect for a goodie bag, which is what I was trying to do with these. For my household, they’re a yearly treat. For the value – they’re expensive, as most good chocolates are, so I didn’t mind paying for them. I had a gift card balance so that made them a decent value. For these truffles, and the way Amazon delivered mine – not such a great value. It wasn’t even a hot day when they were delivered and you can see how bad one of the truffles looks. This was one of MANY in this variety that were smashed – well over half the bag. Thankfully they didn’t “leak”. Once the center gets warm it almost turns to liquid. The Milk Peppermint Cookie Truffle ones weren’t much better when they arrived. But, the gift idea and goodie bags? Nope. If I were to solely judge them on taste, value, and appearance (when round) – 5 stars. They are “rich” in flavor which is why you don’t need many in a serving to feel satisfied. Note to Amazon: package these with more care. Not in a HUGE box with three air tubes. Also, ask the logistics people to “use care”.

    Ordered 2 bags of the LINDIT Lindor Shaped Ball Bag White which were sent in a small box (thank you Amazon) so no smash or melted balls. And they taste so delicious, going to be hard not to eat them all at once which is why 2 bags were order. Too bad they are only sold at Christmas time, but then again if it was sold all the time, most likely I would buy them all the time & probably would end up with way too much fat on this short body.

    These are my absolute favorite Christmas candy, despite my usually preferring milk chocolate to white. I usually do a single go crazy holiday candy display buying binge at Easter and Christmas (the best candy holidays), but as I'm actually losing weight now, I only allowed myself to get one bag of my very favorite, and then had to make it last through the season. Yeah, definitely worth the calories. Wish I could give it an extra star!

    I ordered three bags of these on December 17th. I passed them out to people and enclosed them in gift bags as a added little surprise treat. I ran out so I ordered another bag on December 30th. The taste is still delicious but it appears the chocolate shell is thinner and the resulting change in ratio of filling to chocolate isn’t as enjoyable.
