I can't imagine a world without books. My nose was, as my grandmother put it, "always in a book". Reading transported me from my small town to the far corners of the world. Baseball players, pirates and presidents were my companions.

Reading has opened a wide world of interests for me. I enjoy cooking, traveling, exploring nature, gardening and learning new things. All of these interests and many more are cultivated by reading and experience.

I enjoy writing about people, places and things that interest me. Writing lets me share my knowledge and experience. It can be a somewhat difficult process but in the end it is well worth the effort.

The Simply Delicious Cookbook series focuses on easy to prepare foods. All of the books in this series teach the reader how to prepare good tasting yet simple to make food.

The Awesome Animal Facts series is all about introducing kids to the fascinating and awesome world of animals. Each book concentrates on a different animal. Basic knowledge, interesting facts and photos are combined into a book that I hope children and adults enjoy.

Simply Delicious Cookies is just that - a book full of detailed recipes for simply delicious cookies! I liked the way the author included a break down in each recipe of the time needed (not just the hands on time), and also the nutritional facts for each. Better still - there are photos of each cookie, so you know what they should look like when made. So many cookies it's hard to know which one to start with!

I loved that each recipe has a picture, clear list of ingredients and instructions, and nutrition information. I think this would be a great book for those who are not new to baking but maybe new to cookie making. The reason I would hesitate giving this to a "beginner" cook is that the recipes don't always explain cooling or storage information as detailed as may be needed. Would have liked to have seen a few explanations as we'll as to the "why" of doing something; that alone keeps me from giving my daughter, a newly married baker, the book as she is always asking me why I do certain things in the recipes I've shared with her - things I take for granted since I've been cooking so many years. That being said, the recipes in this book offer a few surprise cookie recipes that someone who has been baking may not necessarily have in their collections , though most are variations on traditional recipes. I'm glad I purchased the book.

The cookies in this book look scrumptious, especially the lemon sugar cookies. I can't wait to try them. Well, for that matter, I can't wait to try most of the cookies in this cookbook. The only problem is, most of the snowbirds have left the park and I don't know who I'll give the bulk of what I make to. There are enough chocolate cookies in here to satisfy the chocoholic and plenty of cookies for those who love peanut butter, I love the fact that there is even a recipe for coconut macaroons. I really can't wait to try these.

Yummy...Cookies by Royce Anderson has whet my appetite for homemade cookies. My only problem with the book is deciding which recipe I'll bake first! There are old standbys like chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin and brownies all the way to a type of "pecan candies" and "milano" that I am anxious to try. All of the recipes seemed worth the effort and easy to accomplish. I would definitely buy this book to have easy delicious sounding cookie recipes on hand.

We really like cookies at our house and with 10 of us, they don't hang around for long. There are some delicious sounding recipes in this book, including a recipe for one of our very favorite cookies--Milano cookies.

Several of us are looking forward to making many of these recipes as summertime approaches. They are the perfect snack to enjoy around the pool and an after-dinner treat.

Another fantastic cookbook from Royce Anderson. I have been on a cookie cooking binge of late and it was great to find so many classic recipes in one well-organized and easy to follow e-book. I love having all sorts of books on my Kindle. I delete a lot and not many find their way into the library, well this one is for sure going in the cooking section. Recommended.

I thought I'd died and gone to heaven! Royce Anderson's book is thoroughly scrumptious and the instructions are easy to follow. There is a huge selection of cookies for all--very democratic!--and I particularly appreciate the nutrition information. But really, Royce--only 0.18 grams of sugar for those sinful Mexican Wedding Cookies???!!! Guess what I'm making first!

5.0 out of 5 stars The coconut macaroon cookies in particular were an absolute delight.

Like the author, I love cookies - loooove them. They are one of those little pleasures that have stayed with me since childhood. It's always interesting to see what cookie authors come up with and whether it's something I haven't seen before. I was therefore very pleased to see quite a number of recipes that were new to me. The coconut macaroon cookies in particular were an absolute delight. The chewiness of the cookies was a lovely experience and the sweet coconut made them incredibly more-ish, which was totally fine as, thanks to the listed calories per serving - only 23 calories, I could go totally cookie monster on them!

There are a good selection of recipes for those with a sweet tooth, they all seem easy to make, we have only tried a couple so far, "Basic Brownies" and "Crispy molasses Cookies" both were very good.
There are several things that makes this book better than a lot of them and that includes having a picture of each recipe when finished (I have a paperwhite Kindle so only got them in black and white but on trying with a PC Kindle App it was much better to see them in colour.
The actual recipes are well laid out with the time taken to prepare given first including "inactive time" where you are waiting for something to happen without actually doing anything like "refrigerate for 1 hour"
It then list the ingredients and then the method of making them which explains in easy stages. The other thing I liked was the fact that it gives "Nutritional facts Per Serving". If you look at this first you will find the ones you should not be making if you are on a diet (I could easily eat lots and lots of calories) however it does give all the other important nutritional information such as fat and fibre.
Please note this is an American book and so the ingredients are not shown in metric units.
If I have a criticism it is not with the book itself but the Kindle implementation where due to the size of the index it is quite difficult to page through the book without clicking a link and jumping straight to a recipe. I gave up and decided to make whatever I jumped to, that worked well.

I love cookies. This book really helps. I will be making all of the kinds in the future. For now, the recipe I used was great, my new favorite.
