Ladurée Chocolate Hardcover – September 11, 2014

4.3 out of 5 stars 10 ratings

The universe of chocolate is a world shaped by a thousand secrets, by perseverance and by know-how founded on passion (Les Marquis de Laduree).

Ladurée continues its quest for the ultimate indulgence with Les Marquis de Ladurée, opening a magical portal to a dreamlike world, where dainty meets delicious, a universe exclusively dedicated to chocolate.

In this book, chocolate lovers will discover its many varieties and virtues, but also its history, its process of fabrication, the art of enjoying chocolate, as well as famous chocolate connoisseurs of the past and present. And since you could hardly be expected to read about chocolate without treating yourself to a taste, Ladurée proposes a selection of recipes for chocolate bonbons and other pastries that you can make at home...

In this new book, Ladurée offers the details of this history along with lush images of chocolate creations — and recipes — which may well stir more than your appetite. -- Matt Gurry

Some gifts you long to keep for yourself. If you can't make it to France, these beautiful hardcovers with metallic edges and rich photos will take you there. They go beyond the recipes to the storied history and production of some of the country's most beloved desserts. only the real thing could be sweeter.

First off I have to say I own both the sweet and savory Laduree books. This book, is beautiful. From the white embossed book cover, the gold and blue box, to the delicate print on the tissue paper it's packed in...just a well done piece of art. if you are looking on a book about chocolate, it's history, and it's relation to Laduree, and not recipes, this is the book for you. I however was looking for more a recipe heavy book. The book itself only has about 30 recipes, and almost half of them are just like temper chocolate, add nuts/fruit/etc and make into a coin, tuile, or bar. You'd think the few recipes would be amazing or unique that you've never seen before. Their information is ok, they have a "how to temper chocolate"!but what this book really is a picture boor of Laduree products.Again, this would be a great coffee table book It's just not heat I was expecting or was looking for. I'd get the Laduree sweet or savory books instead. Those are filled with both pictures and recipes.
